Tiriree(Tiri) Kananuruk | ฏิริรี คณานุรักษ์ (งอนงอน)
Tiri Kananuruk is a Thai performance artist and educator based in New York. Her work focuses on the relationships between sound, text, and time, investigating how technologies shift meaning and transform the ways we perceive and communicate. Mistakes are a key concept in her practice, both human and machine, as a space for making choices, improvisation, rupture, and creating unexpected moments that hold an audience.
Her work has been shown at venues including the Singapore Art Museum, National Gallery Singapore, ATT19 (Thailand), Network Music Festival (UK), Elecktron (Estonia), and 856G (Philippines), as well as U.S. venues such as Roulette Intermedium, Judson Memorial Church, and Boston Museum of Science.
Tiri is a founding member of NUUM Collective, a choreography and technology studio supported by NEA grants, with works presented at The Joyce Theater, CultureHub, and New York Live Arts. She is also the co-founder of MORAKANA with Sebastián Morales, an award-winning R&D studio that challenges the role of technology in contemporary life and invites critical reflection on how nature might reclaim both our physical and digital ecosystems.
She holds a BA in Exhibition Design from Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok and a Master’s in Interactive Telecommunications from the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University. She has held residencies at CultureHub, Mana Contemporary, Barnard Movement Lab, and Media Art Exploration, and is a 2023–2025 member of NEW INC’s Creative Science track. She teaches at the Yale School of Art, NYU’s Interactive Telecommunications Program and Collaborative Arts, and the School for Poetic Computation.
