What is interaction?

In my opinion, Interaction is a mutual or reciprocal action, is a kind of interplay from two or more objects have an effect upon one another.

The art of interactive design book argues that although the action between two objects or objects and human happen, but don’t effect upon one another. it doesn’t mean interaction. For example, You are dancing, but the song or the digital file doesn’t interact to you. It is not interaction, it is participation. This is a good example to visualize us of digital technology that are not interactive.

On the other side the reading presentes a good example of physical interaction. When you open a refrigerator and the little light inside turns on, and then you close the door and the light turns off, you are interacting with the refrigerator because it responds to your actions.

Concluding, Interaction is collaboration , interplay , synergy and connectivity between two or more objects have an effect upon one another. It is a new and revolutionary communication medium.
